Will the NBA soon play a game at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu?

The idea of turning the iconic Santiago Bernabeu stadium, home of Real Madrid CF, into an arena for NBA basketball could become a reality. Mark Tatum, NBA vice commisioner, recently visited Madrid to attend the exhibition game between the Dallas Mavericks and Real.

After the visit, Tatum expressed an open stance toward the prospect of the Santiago Bernabeu hosting an NBA game in the future.

“I had a chance to see the new Bernabeu and the transformations are really impressive.”, the NBA executive said, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. “I saw the system to raise and lower the turf. It is a world-class stadium. If the circumstances arise, we would love to play there.”

“Teams want to play there. Luka Doncic said he would like to try.”, Tatum added, as reported by MARCA.

The Santiago Bernabeu stadium, with its rich history and state-of-the-art facilities, has undergone major renovations that have made it even more attractive for hosting international sporting events.

Let’s see if this will really happen because, if it does, it would be something truly revolutionary for European sports.
