The Memphis Grizzlies and Taylor Jenkins will have to do without their superstar when the 2023-2024 NBA season begins. Adam Silver and the league have handed Ja Morant a 25-game suspension. This means they will have to explore the team’s roster depth a bit more in the outfield role. Players like Marcus Smart will be able to assert themselves and possibly aim for an All-Star spot. Others will be able to prove themselves as solid rotation players who could play in the playoffs. All this will happen just in time for a sweet Christmas present to their fans.
The NBA and Adam Silver have confirmed that Ja Morant’s suspension will not go beyond 25 games, according to Sam Amick and Joe Vardon of The Athletic.
This means the Grizzlies will be able to play with both Marcus Smart and Ja Morant by Dec. 19. Morant’s return is also an important matchup. He will face the New Orleans Pelicans led by Zion Williamson. Both stars were picked first and second at the 2019 NBA Draft. A Morant eager to prove he is better than those chosen before him will surely make waves.
