The Memphis Grizzlies were 6-19 in 25 games without Ja Morant, who was suspended for displaying a firearm during an Instagram live broadcast. Tonight Ja Morant returned to the court for the Grizzlies and was spectacular against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Not only did he score 34 points, but he also led the Grizzlies’ comeback down 24 points, making the game-winner in New Orleans and stunning the Pelicans.

Morant’s 34 points are the most points scored in a game by a player in NBA history who has missed 25 or more consecutive games.
In the first half of tonight’s contest, the Pelicans were in complete control over the Grizzlies. Outscoring Memphis 39-16 in the second quarter, the Pelicans led by 19 points at halftime.
However, the Grizzlies did not give up and played arguably their best second half of the season, playing a 74-53 comeback against New Orleans. Morant led this improbable Grizzlies comeback, scoring 27 of his 34 total points in the second half, including the game-winner at the buzzer.
In addition to his 34 points, Ja Morant also collected 8 assists and 6 rebounds, but with 0 of 5 on the shot, a percentage where he needs to improve but it could not have been all perfect.
