Pablo Laso, former coach of Luka Doncic at Real Madrid, spoke to Eurohoops microphones about the Dallas Mavericks superstar and the difficulties involved in being one of the best players in the basketball world.
“Being the best player is very difficult because, in the end, you will be judged whether your team wins or not.” Laso said when asked what Doncic needs to do to become the best player in the world. “Why don’t you play alone, as you do in tennis.”
“This is a team sport. Luka, for me — I don’t know if he’s the best player, but he’s one of the best. And that says a lot about him and the way his career has been all these years. I am very happy that he received this tribute last night. Everyone cheered him on. He deserved it. He is a great player and all this brings him to his country, Slovenia, but at the same time he grew up in Madrid since he was 13 years old. I am very happy for him. I think he is having a great career. I think he is one of the best players in the world.”
