There are many popular fans in the NBA, almost every team has at least one: across the pond they are called Superfans and they are true afficionados. In several cases they have been season ticket holders for decades and have a quirky look that allows them to be immediately recognized: this is the case, for example, with Clipper Darrell for the Clippers, or Nav Bhatia for the Raptors. I Denver Nuggets had Vicky Ray, nicknamed Candy Lady or Sign Lady.: a 25-year season ticket holder. They had, because in recent hours the franchise reluctantly announced that it had banned Vicky Ray from its home games, revoking her season ticket.
As reported by Westworld, the reason behind the Nuggets’ decision would be the repeated violation of the code of conduct for fans attending games.e.
“We made the difficult decision to revoke Ray’s subscription. Some specific incidents have occurred, including prohibited contact with players.” said a member of broadcaster Kroenke Sports and Entertainment. Vicky Ray allegedly continued to talk to Nuggets players and referees during games, despite several warnings from security.
“I don’t deserve this treatment!” replied the woman to CBS microphones. The straw that would break the camel’s back would be two violations within a week in February, involving “inappropriate interactions” with players and referees.
Another fan, nicknamed Sam Nuggets, owner of season tickets for the seat next to Vicky’s, explained his side of the story: “I never saw her cross the line. They always allowed her to hug fans and players and other things, I think she got too used to it. No one else could do what she did. She was always there where players and referees come in and out. She had been doing it for over 20 years, so I didn’t understand why it suddenly became a problem.”.
