Victor Wembanyama continues to update the record book of NBA precociousness virtually every night.
Last night, in the San Antonio Spurs’ 122-115 win over the Brooklyn Nets, he recorded 33 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 wicks. Before him, since stoppages have been counted, only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (three times), Joel Embiid and Charles Barkley had managed it.
Currently Wemby has put up 207 stoppages, more than 81% of currently active players have recorded in their entire careers. Reporting this incredible figure is StatMamba, taken from Basketball Chronicles.

Crazy numbers, however, which do not, at least apparently, impress his coach, Gregg Popovich. Pop, however, wanted to emphasize Wemby’s young age and did so by comparing him to his beloved wines, specifically a French one: “All my bottles of Bordeaux are older than Victor, I swear to you.”.
Wembanyama is unique in the history of basketball, we can already say for sure. But this also applies to Popovich, not only because of how much he has won but also because of his iconic personality even off the parquet.
Popovich confirms: Wembanyama and the Spurs will play in France.
