Nikola Jokic is undoubtedly the best player in the world at this but Toni Kukoc would choose Dino Radja or Vlade Divac over the current Denver Nuggets phenom.
When asked if Nikola Jokic has reached the level of current Hall of Famers, Toni Kukoc replied that the Nuggets’ big man is not there yet.
“Maybe he will be, but he’s not there yet. Despite the statistics, Jokic is not at the level of Divac and Radja at the center position. 30 years ago Divac surprised America with how he handled the ball with his height, Radja with how he could catch the ball under the basket and get to the other side to score. Those who remember Sabonis know that as a center he dominated. It is a shame that his Achilles tendons bothered him so much. Jokic has improved a lot and can improve his game even more but he’s not at that level yet.”
Jokic is averaging 26.1 points, 12.2 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game this season and is considered the favorite to win his third NBA MVP trophy. Kukoc, voted Sixth Man of the Year in 1996, finished his 13-year NBA career with averages of 11.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
