Simone Fontecchio talks about the possibility of returning to Europe

Simone Fontecchio is not finding much space in this start of the NBA season.

Two days ago the Utah Jazz lost 131-99 at home to the Los Angeles Lakers, being eliminated from the In-Season Tournament. Fontecchio played 27 points (much of it with the outcome now set) and put up 11 points. After the game he spoke to the microphones of Sky Sports, starting with the different role he has in the NBA compared to the national team, which would make it even more difficult for him to eventual return to Europe, which is totally unlikely at the moment.

With the national team I have more responsibility and balls at my disposal, here they ask me different things and also the regulations change a lot. After playing a year and a half like this, it would be even more difficult to return to Europe where I would have another role. I accept this, on the one hand it can also be easier, but I aspire to be more responsible. The coaching staff asks me to be ready on offloads, be aggressive on rebounds and make a contribution on defense, an area where as a team we have to grow a lot. I would like to win more games but it’s all part of our improvement process; we are a young team. We would have liked to go ahead in the tournament, within our team it is very much felt, we really appreciate this idea, the economic incentive is important (laughs, ed).
