It was a very brief stay in Portland, that of Gary Payton II. The guard, allowed to leave by the Golden State Warriors in free agency for salary reasons, is already returning via trade to the San Francisco Bay Area. According to reports by Adrian Wojnarowski, a trade is reportedly in the home stretch to bring Payton II to the Warriors in exchange for Kevin Knox, newly arrived to the Dubs in the trade that brought James Wiseman to Detroit, and 5 second-round draft picks.
A series of concatenated moves that thus eventually bring a Warriors fan favorite, Payton II, back to Steve Kerr’s court. In his brief stint with the Portland Trail Blazers, the player played just 14 games due to an injury that forced him to miss the first part of the season.
The Warriors are routing Kevin Knox to the Blazers via multi-team deal with the Pistons, sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/VmxEAWCPNh
