Rudy Gobert is having yet another positive season statistically in the NBA, and after so many seasons below expectations, his Minnesota Timberwolves have one of the best records in the league: his 13.8 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.1 stoppages average are having a major impact for the Twolves, who currently occupy second place in the Western Conference with a record of 44 wins and 20 losses, behind only half a game behind the leading Oklahoma City Thunder.
Rudy Gobert, however, made himself the protagonist of a very heavy statement (full news story here), accusing the entire NBA refereeing system of directing games with very precise whistles in favor of the betting world, which according to French is becoming a very big problem within the league.
The NBA has decided to use a heavy hand against the Minnesota Timberwolves’ long man: Joe Dumars, NBA executive vice president and head of the Basketball Operations, announced that the Frenchman will have to shell out 100 thousand dollars and pour them into the league’s coffers. Gobert is currently in the third year of his five-year, $205 million total contract signed in the summer in 2021 when he was still with the Utah Jazz.
