Referees apologize, LeBron jokes, “Tatum, nice stoppage!”

In the NBA, the glaring oversight in the Lakers-Celtics final regulation game on Saturday night continues to hold sway. On that occasion, no whistle had been blown for a blatant foul by Jayson Tatum. at LeBron James, with the game going to OT and subsequently won by Boston. Both James and Patrick Beverley, already on the court, had had unhinged reactions and in general the incident had drawn fierce criticism of the referees.

Therefore, in recent hours, via Twitter, the NBRA, the referees association, posted a message apologizing for the gross error. “Like everyone, referees make mistakes. We made one at the end of last night’s game and it is a punch in the stomach for us. This action will weigh tremendously and cause us sleepless nights as we try to be the best referees we can be.” NBRA wrote.

Like everyone else, referees make mistakes. We made one at the end of last night’s game and that is gut-wrenching for us. This play will weigh heavily and cause sleepless nights as we strive to be the best referees we can be.

But on social media the controversy has not subsided, in recent hours LeBron James himself has returned to the charge. The Lakers superstar, who will rest tonight against the Nets, posted in his own Instagram stories the video of Tatum’s foul, tagging the opponent and writing “Nice stoppage!”.

For his part, Tatum understood his colleague’s frustration and retorted: “The other night was incomprehensible… Still, good game, champ!”.
