Michael Jordan turns 60–but he gives the gift.

Michael Jordan turns 60 years old. An important date for His Airness Who decided to celebrate in a special way.

MJ, in fact, decided to make him a big gift, instead of receiving it. He donated the record amount of 10 million of dollars to Make-a-Wish, an association that helps make the dreams of children with serious illnesses come true.

Jordan has worked with the nonprofit for many years and is one of its most important spokesmen. He commented on the donation through a press note.

For me over the years it has been an honor to help so many children smile, the strength and resilience they have in such difficult times is an inspiration to me. The greatest gift I would like to receive for my birthday is to see more people join Make-a-Wish.

Even today, meeting MJ is still one of the most token dreams for children who turn to the association. The contribution of 10 million is the most generous ever received by Make-a-Wish from a single person. During his playing career Jordan often received criticism for his lack of attention to social issues, but after retiring he chased away these accusations by responding with facts. Suffice it to say that a few years ago he donated as much as $100 million through his brand. Now another splendid gesture of charity that definitely does him credit.
