This All Star Game really risks being “stumped” by the absence of several of the NBA’s brightest stars. Those of Kevin Durant, Zion Williamson and Steph Curry are already certain., replaced in recent days. However, yesterday also Joel Embiid, who apparently had no injury, cast doubt on his presence in Salt Lake City this weekend.
The Philadelphia 76ers center stated that he “not being physically whole.” at the moment. Not only that, he also said he has not been for 3-4 weeks now due to a foot problem and that doctors have advised him to stop for a couple of weeks. The All Star Break lasts 9 days and it could be a chance for Embiid to recover. However, there is no definite word on his absence at this time.
Also added in the night was the possible forfeit of Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the captains of the two teams. The Greek, in the last game before the break, injured his wrist falling in the second quarter against the Bulls. Giannis went out and did not return, so his presence for Sunday, given the close dates, is in high doubt.
