Los Angeles Lakers take back Thomas Bryant

I Los Angeles Lakers continue their strengthening campaign through free agency. The California franchise has closed on the return of Thomas Bryant in yellowviolet.

Very interesting shot under the basket for the Lakers who secure a prospect center, only 25 years old and with very interesting offensive skills. Some doubts remain about Bryant’s defensive fitness and his ability to return to full strength after rupturing his cruciate ligament in January 2021.

Before the serious injury, he had had three fine seasons with Washington, always averaging in double figures and scoring 14 points per game before the crack. Upon his return in last season’s finale, he took the court 27 times in a Wizards jersey without looking at the top of his game. Now the opportunity to relaunch himself in Los Angeles, where his NBA career had begun. It was the Lakers themselves who selected him with the 42nd call at the 2017 Draft, keeping him on the roster in his rookie year with only 15 appearances, only to cut him at the end of the season. Now a new opportunity in LA, where he signed a one-year contract, a sign that many concerns remain about his physical fitness. Should he find himself, the doors of the base quintet with Anthony Davis back in his natural role as big wing.

This is the fifth free agent signed by the Lakers these days. The Californians had so far focused on role players by signing Lonnie Walker, Juan-Toscano Anderson, Troy Brown and Damian Jones. Now a definitely bigger blow with the agreement with one of the best players still remaining free agents.
