Kyrie Irving’s first words in Dallas are an attack on the Nets — and they’re going to get a lot of discussion

Kyrie Irving has officially introduced himself to the Dallas Mavericks.

In the traditional press conference with the new jersey, the point guard threw some barbs at his former team, the Brooklyn Nets.

I want to play in an environment where I feel appreciated, not tolerated or even treated with disrespect. In my experience at the Nets there have been times when I did not feel respect. I am someone who trains hard but no one ever talks about my work ethic, only what I do off the court is discussed. I came to Dallas to change that narrative. In Brroklyn I did everything I was supposed to do, I was selfless, I took care of my teammates, I always did everything the right way and I leave them fourth in the league.

Then Irving touched on another hot topic: living with Luka Doncic to the Mavs.

We’ll find a way to play together, I’ll do everything I can to put him in the best condition, no pressure. We must not force but only think about playing. I want to enjoy his talent and that of other teammates to aim for the title.
