JJ Redick e Pat Beverley were teammates for one season at the Los Angeles Clippers, where, however, they were unable to make their way into the Playoffs. Their coach in LA was Doc Rivers, who has now found Beverley at the Milwaukee Bucks: however, Redick does not seem to have good memories of the coach who coached him from 2013 to 2017.
During the latest episode of his podcast “The Old Man & The Three”, JJ Redick criticized Rivers after a difficult start in Milwaukee (3-7 in first 10 games). “I’ve seen the same trend for years: always looking for excuses. Doc, we get it. Coming into the season is hard, there is always an excuse. Every time the team is thrown to the wolves, they never take responsibility.” said the former NBA player.
And Beverley was not slow to respond, via X: “Doc saved your career. You became a starter when nobody else wanted you. Now you’ve retired and you go on TV and say these things.”. But Redick immediately retorted in kind: “Pat, my friend, I had a 4-year offer with Player Option for the same salary and starting job from another team. Vaff*****o ‘saved my career'”.
Pat my guy I had a four year offer with player option for the same money to be a starter for a different team. FOH “saved my career.” https://t.co/5lXowm2j8e

Redick, one of the best NBA shooters of the past 20 years, signed a four-year, $27.5 million deal with the Clippers in the summer of 2013.
