Jaylen Brown responds to Warriors’ ‘IRRISPECTFUL’ strategy on him

Jaylen Brown, star of the Boston Celtics, has never been considered a shooter in his basketball career but yesterday he refuted everyone against the Warriors. In college he shot only 29.4 percent from long distance and, although he came close, he never shot better than 40 percent from three-point range in the NBA. However, a team should definitely not let him off the hook from beyond the arc.

The Golden State Warriors did not get the memo Sunday afternoon as Brown slaughtered them, and the Celtics prevailed 140-88 in a historic 52-point defeat. Warriors coach Steve Kerr must have told his boys to leave Brown alone, as the 2024 All-Star was left alone on the perimeter several times.

Much to the delight of Celtics fans, Brown made the Warriors pay for this conceit of theirs. He made five of his 10 triples and finished the game with 29 points in just 22 minutes.

Draymond Green admitted that soft coverage was part of his team’s plan. But he simply said it did not work, according to Jared Weiss of The Athletic. When reporters asked Brown about Golden State’s selective defense, he was brief but did not hide his true feelings:

“I thought it was disrespectful, but we took advantage of it.”, Jaylen Brown said about the softness of the Warriors’ defense toward him.

Although Brown is not a notorious three-point threat, he is shooting an efficient 50.1 percent from the field and has made at least one triple in his last seven games before the highly anticipated showdown with the Warriors. This season has clearly shown that leaving him open all the time is not a good idea. By the time Golden State realized this, it was too late.
