Jalen Brunson FURIBED for the foul whistled at him that decided the game! NBA admits error

A 16-point comeback seemed the most likely and favorable outcome for the New York Knicks. The Knicks were able to bounce back and take the lead against the Houston Rockets. However, in the last milliseconds a costly foul was whistled. It was Jalen Brunson who made contact with Aaron Holiday. The Knicks lost the game because of this foul, which was apparently a mistake by the NBA referee, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.

“On the air it was deemed that the lower body contact was illegal. After seeing it during the postgame review, the offensive player was able to return to a normal playing position on the hardwood floor. The contact that occurred after the ball was released was therefore incidental and peripheral to the shot attempt and should not have been whistled.”, said NBA referee Ed Malloy.

The Knicks had all the momentum in the final seconds. Precious Achiuwa fended off a winning layup attempt by the Rockets’ Jalen Green. Then, Aaron Holiday took a long-distance layup that led to a foul by Jalen Brunson. The Knicks then lost by a score of 103-105.
