“I was shocked”: Adam Silver so on Morant’s gun video.

NBA commisioner Adam Silver couldn’t help but be surprised by the latest gun scandal involving Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant.

Adam Silver did not elaborate on the latest incident while the league conducts its investigation, but he did open his conversations with Morant when he was first suspended over a similar incident. The NBA commisioner highlighted how the Grizzlies’ young man seemed to take the matter seriously, which is why it “shocked” him to see the superstar repeat his mistakes.

“We talked directly about the consequences before we got to the next actions. We talked directly about the misconduct at the time and frankly most of our conversation was about how incredibly serious the first incident of using to a firearm on social media was and, again, the consequences that followed. An eight-game suspension was pretty serious, and to me it all seemed incredibly serious at the time. We talked for a while about not only the consequences it could have on his career, but also the safety issues involved.” said Silver.

“I had the feeling that he was taking what I was telling him seriously. Honestly, I was shocked when I saw the video this weekend. We are investigating and will see exactly what happened, but we are assuming the worst.”
