Tonight Victor Wembanyama made his official NBA debut in the San Antonio Spurs jersey. The French phenom was among the most anticipated players tonight, especially since he was up against another generational phenom from Europe, Luka Doncic.
Victor Wembanyama was on the court 23 minutes and 19 seconds into his first NBA game and scored 15 points, the result of a more than decent 6 of 9 from the field. #1 did very well from long distance as he knocked down 3 of the 5 triples attempted, very good numbers for a player of his height and size. For completeness of performance he also added. 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 recovered balls and 1 stoppage.
Unfortunately, however, this performance of his was not enough for the San Antonio Spurs to start the NBA season with a successful because the triple-double from 33 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists by Luka Doncic extinguished the other Texas franchise’s dreams of victory in what is something of a state derby. Also very good Kyrie Irving with 22 points and 6 assists.
All in all, Victor Wembanyama did not have a bad start to his NBA adventure, quite the contrary., however, we are sure that as time goes by, he will be able to stay on the court more and thus be even more incisive.
