HISTORIC renewal for Steve Kerr! He has become the highest paid coach in NBA history: here’s how much he will earn

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr is not going anywhere. The Dubs boss has agreed to a historic 2-year, $35 million contract extension, making him the highest paid coach in NBA history, according to reports from Adrian Wojnarowski:

“BREAKING: Golden State’s Steve Kerr has agreed to a two-year, $35 million contract extension, Priority Sports’ Rick Smith and Dan Eveloff tell ESPN. Kerr’s new contract makes him the highest-paid coach in league history at $17.5 million a year.”

Well-deserved for Kerr, who has been at the helm during the dynasty years. The former sharpshooter was hired by the Dubs in 2014 to replace Mark Jackson and quickly rose to prominence, leading Golden State to win a title in his first season as coach. The Warriors posted a 67-15 record, one of the best in league history, eventually beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

Steve Kerr guided the Californians to two consecutive titles, in 2016-17 and 2017-18, before also winning the last award in 2021-22. Even if the Dubs are struggling in 2023-24, there is no doubt that Kerr is the right man for the job. His Bay Area resume says it all.
