Giannis Antetokounmpo in recent hours renewed for another 3 years a contract that would have expired in 2025 anyway, thus extending it until at least 2028. This makes the Greek a true flag bearer for the Milwaukee Bucks, where he has been playing since 2013 and won the title in 2021. But Giannis also becomes one of the highest-paid NBA players, as in the last season of his guaranteed contract, the 2026-27 season (the 2027-28 will be a Player Option), he will earn just over $59 million.
A few days before the season opener, with the Bucks engaged on the Italian night between Thursday and Friday against Chicago, Antetokounmpo told CBS microphones that he had even signed the new deal “in the dark”.
“I’m happy that I’m staying here at least until the season-what was it, 2026-27? Okay. This is the first time in my career that I didn’t even know the details of my contract. I signed it simply because I want to stay here.” said a Giannis Antetokounmpo evidently thrilled with the management’s work. Indeed, in the offseason the Bucks added Damian Lillard, giving Giannis the best teammate of his career so far. Together, the Milwaukee duo will try to win the NBA title.
