For a few days now, there has been more insistent talk about Bronny James: this is because LeBron’s son, after only one year among other disappointing years at USC, has declared himself eligible for the Draft. Obviously he will have until just before the Draft to back out and stay another year in college, but changing teams: in fact, he has also enrolled in the transfers portal. Given the only 4.8 point average in his first NCAA season., with rather spotty minutes, many think James Jr is not yet ready for the NBA. His father’s externalized idea of playing with him before he retires, however, seems to be rushing Bronny, who will probe his market with scouts and make a decision based on the interest he hears about himself from NBA franchises.
Skeptics certainly do not include. Draymond Green, a friend of his father LeBron, who in his podcast indeed showered the 2004 class with compliments. “Bronny will be 100% successful in NBA. First, he knows how to work. If you disagree, go look at his high school run. You will notice the improvements in his game, his body, his athleticism. At worst, Bronny is a good NBA defender, a 3&D. We have a lot of them in the NBA, they are highly valued. And Bronny has a very good shot, although he has kept percentages not very high this year. The mechanics are good, he always shoots well. There are so many factors when it comes to his low percentages, I don’t want to overemphasize. I also think he does well to apply for this draft because it will probably be remembered as one of the worst drafts in history, at least as far as the top guys are concerned. There is not even a favorite for the first overall pick. I think it was a good move and that Bronny will be a successful player in the NBA.” Green stated.

Green’s opinion, however, clashes with that of insiders. In one of his articles, Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer wrote that some comparisons that have emerged with players currently or recently in the NBA see Bronny James placed alongside the likes of Patrick Beverley, Davion Mitchell, and Norris Cole. Not top names, one of whom (Cole) has been out of the league for several years. Also, speaking to the reporter, an anonymous GM reportedly said: “He should go back to school and develop at the speed he needs to, otherwise he risks losing himself, whether he plays or not with his father.”.
Harder still another scout: “There are probably three rounds at the draft of prospects who are more talented than Bronny in this class.”.
Meanwhile, Bronny on his own X profile continues to joke about it, posting daily edited photos in which he wears jerseys of the most disparate colleges: the latest Kentucky, but in recent days also Duke, Ohio State, Connecticut and West Virginia. In between many photoshopped pictures even wearing a Lakers jersey, not to be missed. His future continues to be a mystery.
