The arrival of Jrue Holiday last summer in a trade with Portland transformed the roster of the Boston Celtics, who this regular season will finish with the best NBA record (they are now 62-17). The green-and-whites are a contender again this year, led by a star-studded group consisting precisely of Holiday, Tatum, Brown and Porzingis. A group that Boston wants to keep together, which is why the first step was the almost unexpected renewal with Holiday.
As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, the player will decline the Player Option on the final year of his contract, i.e., the 2024-25 season, to sign a new four-year deal beginning this summer and lasting through 2028. In total over these four years Jrue Holiday will earn $135 million.: He is only the fourth player in NBA history to get a $100 million-plus contract past the age of 33. The second, however, for the Celtics, who have made a similar offer to Al Horford in the past.
This season with Boston, Holiday is maintaining 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists on average: the lowest numbers since his rookie season. But that was to be expected, since he has probably never had so much talent around him in his career.
