For the past couple of years Nate Robinson announced that he is suffering from renal failure. The former NBA player, 40 years old next month, is in dire need of a kidney transplant, but it is delayed, despite the fact that he has been looking for one for four years. While in recent months Robinson had revealed that he is on dialysis several times a week, thus living in extremely precarious conditions, he also added in an interview with the Daily Mail that he would not have long to live.
“I don’t know how long I have to live if I can’t find a kidney. I know I won’t have a long life, I want to live as long as I can.” – Robinson stated. – “Some bodies reject dialysis, thank God mine and I can live. If I didn’t have dialysis, I probably wouldn’t last more than one or two weeks. It’s serious, I can’t skip one. I go to the hospital for four hours, three times a week. They clean my blood and that helps me.”.
Because of his illness, Nate Robinson often suffers from nausea and is subject to numerous hospitalizations. “I don’t take the fact that I’m alive for granted. I try to be as humble as possible, I thank God for the opportunity. Every day is a blessing to be alive and to be able to do what I do. Because some people go into the hospital to find a kidney and never come out again.”.
