I Dallas Mavericks are moving around quite a bit in the last day of the market to improve a team that, after a great start, is now eighth with a 28-23 record. Picking up Daniel Gafford from Washington in exchange for Richaun Holmes, the Texans made a much more nuanced trade with the Charlotte Hornets taking PJ Washington.
In exchange for the long, 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds average in Charlotte this season, the Hornets receive Grant Williams, Seth Curry, a weakly protected 2027 first-round pick (Top 2) and two future second-round picks, as reported by Shams Charania.
It is the second major trade of the day for the Hornets, who had shipped Gordon Hayward to the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier in the afternoon. Washington had renewed his contract last summer; the new deal (three-year $46.5 million down) will not expire until 2026.
Charlotte is receiving a 2027 first-rounder from Dallas – top-two protected – and sending two second-rounders to Mavericks as part of the deal, sources said. https://t.co/T9wm0JfqXF
