Ben Simmons continues to have several physical problems: the player of the Brooklyn Nets, taken the field at intervals only 15 times this season, will not be available again until next year, the Nets announced. The cause once again is nerves, specifically one in the lower back that has been pinched. Simmons has had such problems with his back for two years now: last year he had played only 42 games, which became precisely 15 this year.
The Australian, when available, has maintained 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists on average but his and the Nets’ season never took off; Brooklyn is currently 11th in the East with a 25-37 record.
It has been since the 2018-19 season, when he was still in Philadelphia, that Ben Simmons has not gone over 58 games a season.
Nets say Ben Simmons is out for the remainder of the season while he consults with specialists and explores treatment options for the nerve impingement in his lower back.
