Last night the Golden State Warriors made up for it after a very tough loss against the Boston Celtics on Sunday, a -52 that broke several bad records. Indeed, Steve Kerr’s team beat the Milwaukee Bucks, another contender, by a clear 125-90, breaking their streak of six consecutive wins. Giannis Antetokounmpo also took part in the game; the Greek was in doubt until the last minute due to an Achilles tendon problem but played and scored 23 points.
After the game, Giannis was asked about Golden State’s desire for redemption after the tough knockout against Boston, but the Bucks star knew nothing about it.
“Did they lose? I don’t watch basketball. Unbelievable, bravo to the Celtics. Obviously when a team like that loses, especially if they have a winning mentality, you know they’re going to be ready for the next game, they’re going to study the videos, they’re going to prepare in practice and they’re going to come to the game in a certain way. It makes sense seeing how they started the game today, they played from the beginning very hard, they were moving the ball very well and getting everybody involved. They were defending, they were attacking and everyone was on the same page. Usually, when you lose by 30, 40 or 50 points, the team wants to send a message.” commented Antetokounmpo.
That “I don’t watch basketball.” will turn some people’s noses up, but this is not the first time Giannis has stated that he just plays the game and then does not take an interest in the subject once he leaves the court. We cannot know whether this is true or part of the character, in any case it is really difficult that for several days the Bucks superstar did not learn about a game that was in its way historic that had just involved what would be his next opponents and main rivals in the Eastern Conference.
