Why Antetokounmpo believes Curry is the best in the world

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Steph Curry both had the opportunity to beat the Boston Celtics in the playoffs last season. After his team made it to Game-7 and the Golden State Warriors won the title at home in Boston, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar knows exactly who should be considered the best player in the world.

The notoriously humble Antetokounmpo believes Curry enters the 2022-23 season with that title. How so? As Antetokounmpo told reporters at Bucks Media Day yesterday, the best player in the NBA’s defending champion always deserves that definition, just as it was for him last season after leading Milwaukee to its first title in 40 years.

“Do I think I help my team and my teammates get better? Yes I do. Do I believe I am the best player in the world? No. Is the one who won the MVP title last. Two years ago, yes. But in my opinion the best player in the world is Steph Curry until there is another player in his place.”.

Curry is a very different player than Antetokounmpo, of course, and he posed an even bigger threat to the Celtics’ defense on the way to winning his first NBA Finals MVP award.
