Again tonight Simone Fontecchio started in the quintet with the Utah Jazz against the Minnesota Timberwolves and again tonight he did very well, even being the top scorer of the night with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 33 minutes and 40 seconds. Unfortunately, however, it did not go so well for his team either as the Salt Lake City lineup lost at the Target Center in Minneapolis 101-90 to a 32-point, 11-rebound Karl-Anthony Towns.

The positive aspect of Fontecchio’s performance is that it was an all-around performance. He didn’t just make the basket, he also defended and put his teammates in rhythm. The negative note is the 3-point percentage because he finished with 2 of 7 from long distance and 6 of 12 from the field. He certainly showed that he can do much better.
Recall that Simone Fontecchio played so much with the Utah Jazz against the Minnesota Timberwolves also because there are outside pieces including Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson. The hope is that the Italian will be able to have this amount of minutes even when the two phenoms return to the Utah Jazz’s rotation or at least not so much less than now.
