Usman Garuba was cut from Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC had to take him out because after the various summer trades he had 21 players on the roster.
The long Spanish player, about to start the World Cup with the Roja, did not take the news well. Shortly after the decision, in fact, he wrote on X a message in which he vows that he will make those who did not believe in him repent: “I will prove everyone wrong, mark these words.”.

Garuba’s NBA experience so far has been far from exciting. In his two-year stint in Houston, only 99 appearances and very little space, aided by some physical problems. Now the Spaniard can either use the World Cup as a showcase to seek another NBA contract or explore the European market. In the Old Continent (and particularly in Spain) the Real Madrid holds its rights. For the Blancos, despite having a full roster, could be an interesting shot nonetheless, given the difficulties in renewing Walter Tavares, whose contract expires in June 2024.
