It did not take long before the Boston Celtics made their decision on Ime Udoka after it was revealed that the coach was having an affair with an employee of the organization. As it turns out, there may be more to it than what we know at the moment.
According to NBA insider, Shams Charania of The Athletic, it was NOT just recently that the Celtics learned of the illicit affair. Apparently, they have known about it for months. However, a recent incident involving the said staffer was what led the team to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter:
Some members of the Celtics organization first learned of the affair in July, sources said. At that time, team leadership wanted to believe that for both parties the relationship was consensual. But several sources said the woman recently accused Udoka of making unwanted comments toward her, leading the team to launch a series of internal questions.
Shams seems to imply here that the organization turned a blind eye to the relationship for at least two months. This was perhaps under the premise that the relationship was between two consenting adults.
