The Golden State Warriors will open the 2023-2024 NBA season on Opening Night by finally welcoming an old friend at a sold-out Chase Center. According to reports, Kevin Durant and the new Phoenix Suns will travel to the Bay Area to face the Dubs on Oct. 24, in an inaugural clash between star hopefuls to win the championship.
Second Shams Charania of The Athletic, the other contest on NBA Opening Night will see the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Denver Nuggets, defending champions, in a rematch of last year’s Western Conference Finals.

Durant has yet to play in front of the Warriors’ home crowd since leaving the team in 2019. The two-time Finals MVP with Golden State played at Chase Center with the Brooklyn Nets in February 2021. But there were no fans in attendance because of COVID-19. He did not participate in Brooklyn’s next two trips to San Francisco due to injury, and last March he also did not put his foot on the court when the Suns visited the Warriors for the first time since his purchase at the trade deadline.
Let’s see if this will be the time for Durant at home for the Warriors in the NBA.
