Sixers gassed in Gauntlet-7, Ben Simmons enjoys a glass of wine

Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers, a year and a half ago, they certainly did not part on the best of terms. The Australian threw a tantrum about not playing the 2021-22 season with the Sixers, eventually being bundled off to Brooklyn in exchange for James Harden. Since then, neither Philadelphia nor Simmons has had any luck. The worst has probably been the player himself, who made his debut with the Nets only this season, closed, however, with just 42 games played and 6.9 points average, by far the worst figure in his career.

Simmons, however, did not shy away from the trolling the Sixers for the narrow loss they suffered in Game 7 against the Boston Celtics last night. Philly held for two quarters, only to collapse in the second half, especially in the third period in which they scored just 10 team points. In the end the final result was a merciless 112-88, with Jayson Tatum also setting a new NBA record for points scored in a Game-7: an impressive 51.

During the fourth quarter, when the Celtics were already up +30 with just over 3′ on the clock, Simmons posted a photo in his own Instagram stories. The Australian was on the couch, complete with a cover, admiring his former teammates being annihilated while sipping a glass of red wine. Simmons could have posted a photo of the situation even during the more balanced first half, the choice to do so with the game now virtually over leaves little room for interpretation.
