Simone Fontecchio commented on his Pistons debut, and Monty Williams compliments him

Last night Simone Fontecchio made his debut with the Detroit Pistons, in the loss to the Clippers. The Italian, who arrived this week from the Utah Jazz, finished with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8/19 shooting in 32′. A great start for Fontecchio, on whom the Pistons also seem to want to bet for the future.

“The trade was on Wednesday, I don’t even know what day it is today! Everyone in Detroit welcomed me with open arms, Cade [Cunningham, ndr] was great from the first moment. They told me to go out there and play, they didn’t expect perfection, they just asked me to have fun. The exchange? It was shocking. I have a family, a wife, a daughter. It was a lot to process, but everyone is supporting me.” Fontecchio said at a press conference.

Monty Williams also has spent good words for Fontecchio: “He came in and played 32 minutes, productively. I was impressed with his ability not only to shoot but to attack the basket. He can definitely defend and once he understands the schemes he will be much more comfortable.”.
