It’s hard for Shaquille O’Neal to hide, given his physical size, but the retired NBA star has managed to evade lawyers trying to serve him with papers as part of a class-action lawsuit over a botched investment in the crypto world.
Investor Edwin Garrison’s lawsuit lists several celebrities who invested in FTX, a bank specializing in crypto and now on the brink of bankruptcy, as defendants, including Tom Brady and Steph Curry.
Garrison’s lawyers told Sarah Emerson of Forbes that they searched far and wide for The Big Shaqtus, but it proved to be too fast for them.
“We spent great efforts (4 different service companies) trying to notify you with our complaint.” Garrison attorneys David Boies and Adam Moskowitz wrote Tuesday in an e-mail to the defendants. “Only one, however, chose to evade service in order to prolong these proceedings or otherwise attempt to avoid answering these charges.”
That person running away from the crypto problem, according to lawyers, is Shaquille O’Neal. For the past month, the athlete has allegedly been hiding inside his home. The lawyers also claimed to have contacted Shaq’s last known attorney to no avail. Who knows if he will answer for these allegations at some point?
