Italian challenge in NBA between Fontecchio and Banchero: Simo beats Paolo

Tonight at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, Paolo Banchero’s Orlando Magic hosted Simone Fontecchio’s Utah Jazz.

The match was won by the Salt Lake City franchise with an excellent Simone Fontecchio, now firmly established in the Jazz’s rotation: in fact in the last 5 games he has played an average of 22.4 minutes per shoelace, scoring 8.8 points. Good averages for a guy who has done months and months of watching others compete, taking the court for a couple of minutes every “death of the pope.”

Tonight Fontecchio did not start in the quintet but still put up some. 17 in 21 minutes and 39 seconds. Paolo Banchero also did his because he wrote 26 on the scoreboard, with also 8 rebounds and 2 assists, in 33 1/2 minutes on the parquet.

However, the Italian-American’s excellent performance did not allow his team to bring home the win, but increasingly solidifies his position as the likely winner of the 2022-2023 Rookie of the Year.

Both teams are fighting to be among the 4 teams that will participate in the play-in. Needless to say, Utah has a better chance than Orlando, even if the competition in the Eastern Conference is less high. A couple of wins in a row could definitely rekindle their hopes of trying to get into the post season. We hope to see both Fontecchio and Banchero in the playoffs!
