Paul Banchero, who are your 2 childhood idols and 2 young stars that you admire today?

Paolo Banchero is ready to take on the NBA. The first overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft will try to lead the Orlando Magic back to the playoffs.

In a one-on-one interview with NBA insider Marc Stein, Banchero revealed the names of two young stars from whom he learned to appreciate the way they play, as well as the two who were his favorite athletes when he was in training. The Magic forward told that although he is mainly trying to play his own way, he tries to take cues from other stars.

\”LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, growing up, were by far my two favorite players. And then as I got older I got to know Anthony Davis and Jayson Tatum, dynamic forwards who are able to play inside or outside the painted area. But then I also want to have my own style of play. I\’m just trying to be myself.\”

Paul Banchero averaged 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game with Duke. He has an NBA-ready physical frame and is undoubtedly considered one of the best candidates to win the Rookie of the Year award. The Magic will make him the centerpiece of their rebuild along with Franz Wagner, Cole Anthony and Wendell Carter Jr.

Let\’s see if the Italian kid will really stand out as everyone expects. Certainly the possibilities are all there however between saying and doing in the NBA are hoops and performance.
