Between Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns, the two teams that had him among their finalists for the bench, Nick Nurse finally chose the frontrunners. He will replace Doc Rivers as Philly’s coach, with the difficult task of getting Joel Embiid and (perhaps) James Harden ahead in the Playoffs.
Nurse had been fired by Toronto at the end of this season, which ended with elimination in the Play-in. In 2019 the coach had won the NBA title with the Raptors, his first and so far only coached team in the league. For Nurse, before Toronto, a long apprenticeship between Belgium, the UK and the G-League.
After winning the title in 2019, Nick Nurse hit the Playoffs only twice in 4 years in Canada, being eliminated once in the second round and once in the first.
