The NBA has decided that Draymond Green can finally return to play with the Golden State Warriors after his indefinite suspension.
The NBA’s announcement prompted a flurry of reactions, some happy, some shocked and some skeptical about the timing of the decision.
The Warriors were barred from Green’s performance for just over three weeks following the suspension caused by his blow to the face of Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic. The NBA gave him an indefinite suspension and not a specific number of games to give him time to address his issues. He was asked to undergo psychological therapy and have meetings with the league and the team to evaluate his progress as part of the requirements for his return.
In a statement, the NBA confirmed that Draymond Green has met all of these requirements, allowing him to be reinstated.
“During his suspension period, which began Dec. 14 and resulted in him missing 12 games, Green took steps that demonstrated his commitment to conforming his conduct to the standards expected of NBA players. He has attended meetings with a counselor and met on multiple occasions with representatives of the NBA, the Warriors, and the National Basketball Players Association, which will continue throughout the season” reads the statement shared by Marc J. Spears of ESPN and Andscape.
