NBA mourns referee Tony Brown, who died of cancer

A few months ago Tony Brown, a longtime NBA referee, had given hope about his own physical condition by returning to work in the league\’s replay center in New Jersey. Brown had retired from refereeing \”on the court\” because of pancreatic cancer, which, however, he was continuing to treat. In these hours his death was tragically announced, at only 55 years of age, precisely because of that terrible disease he was fighting.

Brown refereed in the NBA for 17 years, having to forcibly end his career in 2021. His palmares include 1,016 regular season games and 25 Playoff games refereed.

NBA veteran official Tony Brown passed away today following a hard-fought bout with cancer. He was one of the best running the sidelines and one cool brother. Rest In Peace. https://t.co/GPhyMORCRU
