Matteo Spagnolo starts in quintet but Minnesota loses to Memphis

Matteo Spagnolo started his second Summer League game in the quintet however his Minnesota Timberwolves surrendered 63 to 70 against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Italian did not put up memorable numbers as he finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, all while shooting 2/10 from the field in 22 minutes of usage.

Of course the Summer League is meant to “experiment” however, among the 3 Italians involved, Spagnolo, Paolo Banchero and Alessandro Pajola, the Brindisian is the one who is struggling the most. There is however to remember that he is also the smallest of all because we are talking about a 2003 class against a 2002 first overall pick and a 1999.

Matteo Spagnolo and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ next NBA Summer League contest will be next Wednesday at 10 p.m. Italian time against the Milwaukee Bucks. We’ll see if the boy from Puglia can improve his numbers in the challenge against the Illinois franchise.

In Serie A with Cremona he proved to have a very polite hand so we wouldn’t be surprised if he can put up a dozen in an SL challenge. Of course we will keep you updated with a recap of what will happen in Vegas to our Italian boys.
