After 17 professional seasons, all in the NBA, Lou Williams recently announced his retirement from playing basketball. The point guard, a three-time career Sixth Man of the Year, did not play last season and will turn 37 in October.
In the video shared to break the news, Williams’ daughter writes a letter to her father, a kind of summary of everything the player has been over the past 17 years. Lou Williams is the NBA All-Time leader in points off the bench, scored in the jerseys of the Sixers, Hawks, Raptors, Lakers, Rockets and Clippers. In his career he has maintained 13.9 average points, with peaks even over 20 (22.6 in 2017-18 with the Clippers), starting from the bench 1,001 times out of 1,123.
