Kobe’s unforgettable “Kobe style” message to Durant after his ruptured Achilles tendon

When Kevin Durant ruptured his Achilles tendon in 2019 when he was still with the Golden State Warriors, Kobe Bryant was one of the first people to send him messages and show him support. But of course Kobe did it “Kobe style.”

According to Durant, Bryant sent an encouraging message, especially since the Lakers icon himself suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in 2013, famous because Kobe decided to shoot his free throws after the said injury.

“Don’t be a fucking crybaby. You’re going to be all right. You’ll be back and you’ll be your old self.” Durant shared Bryant’s message to him at the time via Alex Schiffer of The Athletic.

Durant also revealed that Bryant continued to send him messages afterward, discussing with him potential people he can work with to help him overcome his injury, as well as physical therapy and the work he needs to do to fully recover.

Kevin Durant appreciated that Kobe Bryant reached out to him, sharing that the Lakers phenom really helped him get his mind straight at the time.

“When my mind was running all over the place, it was good to hear from him, especially him confronting him when he was already years into his career.”, Durant added.
