Nike is used to armoring its athletes for the very long term: a few years ago it did so with LeBron James, who signed a lifetime contract; now it is the turn of Kevin Durant. The superstar of the Phoenix Suns announced it in the past few hours: “A real honor to be in a lifelong game with Nike.”.
It is unclear how much KD will earn from this lifetime deal, certainly several hundred million dollars. In 2014 Durant had signed a 10-year contract with Nike for a total of $300 million. The American brand has made 16 different shoe models for KD over the years, the next one is expected in just these weeks.
