The player was walking near his home in Philadelphia when he was hit by a car, as reported earlier by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Local law enforcement agencies launched an investigation. The 27-year-old player was hospitalized the same evening but has since been discharged. The Sixers wing avoided more serious injuries, but will still be unable to play basketball for a significant period of time.
Kelly Oubre Jr. had a solid start to the season after moving from the Charlotte Hornets to the Sixers, averaging 16.3 points and 5.1 rebounds. Unfortunately, however, he won’t be able to lend a hand to Joel Embiid and teammates until at least the end of 2023, on a hunch. The hope is that we can see him on the court very soon. Really good luck Kelly!
