Josh Giddey case, NBA opens investigation to see what’s what

Eventually the case Josh Giddey è “exited” from social media, where it had erupted about 48 hours ago. The great uproar generated by the Thunder player’s alleged affair with a 15-year-old girl, on which Giddey did not want to comment, has reached all the way to the NBA’s upper echelons. League spokesman Mike Bass announced that an investigation will be launched to clarify the situation around OKC’s point guard.

The official statement mentions. “inappropriate relationship with a minor”. In the U.S. the age of majority is 21; Giddey himself just turned 21 last month. The age of consent, on the other hand, varies from state to state; in Oklahoma it is 16. Although there is no complaint, and indeed the incriminating photos were shared by the girl herself on Snapchat, the NBA can freely decide to punish a player for off-court behavior. Thus, a fine or worse, a suspension of several games could come for the Australian.
