Giannis Antetokounmpo recently revealed that he does not watch basketball, referring specifically to the Boston Celtics’ victory over the Golden State Warriors, but he does follow the EuroLeague with interest.
Antetokounmpo corrected himself when speaking to Amerikanos24, admitting that he does watch EuroLeague, particularly the games of Greek teams and his brother Kostas, who plays for Panathinaikos. However, he clarified that he mainly watches highlights rather than the full games.
“I watch both Panathinaikos and Olympiacos. I won’t lie to you: I don’t watch all the games, I watch the highlights. I think Panathinaikos is third and Olympiacos is fourth. I wish them both the best. I hope Kostas comes back healthy and strong able to contribute his best for his team, helping them win as many games as possible. As I said, I wish both teams the best. I just watch the highlights. I like it a lot. I don’t watch the NBA.”, Antetokounmpo said.
He expressed his interest in the Greek national team and his desire to play in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
“I would like to play in the Olympics. It is far away, in four or five months. I don’t want to lie to you. In my mind right now I’m not thinking about the Olympics. Of course, I’m watching the guys play and I saw the last win. They were fantastic against Holland. They turned the game around, they played defense in the last minutes, they moved the ball, they got free throws, they played really well…”.
