Is Phoenix considering reuniting Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant?

The Phoenix Suns are on the verge of ending the Chris Paul era in Phoenix after the front office decided to waive the services of the 38-year-old ahead of NBA free agency and now eyeing Irving. There is still some hope that CP3 could negotiate a new deal with the Suns, but at this point other teams are vigilant about a possible hit on the 12-time All-Star.

With Paul’s departure looming, the Suns may now turn their attention to Dallas Mavericks superstar Kyrie Irving, who himself has been linked to a potential exit from the Mavs this summer. Kyrie will soon become an unfree agent as well, and Phoenix may simply be looking to reunite the enigmatic point guard with his former Brooklyn Nets teammate and best friend in life, Kevin Durant:

“The Suns gave up their pursuit of Irving before the trade deadline and focused on getting Durant, but Phoenix executives have not completely abandoned their interest in Irving four months ago.” NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports wrote.

To be clear, nothing is yet imminent on the Irving front. In addition, it remains to be seen what kind of salary cap maneuver the Suns’ front office must implement to potentially bring Kyrie to Phoenix.
