Irving vs. Karim Abdul-Jabbar: Durant ‘throws a hook’ at former Lakers

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar took Kyrie Irving to task, but it looks like Kevin Durant is coming to his teammate’s defense. Well, not exactly, but if his Twitter likes are any indication, he might be.

Durant liked this tweet, which mocked Kareem for his outburst against Irving, taking him back to his playing days in which the Hall of Famer was elbowed in the stomach and then threw a right hook in his opponents’ faces:

In case you missed a passage, Kareem basically criticized Irving for not setting a good example for all the kids who look up to him. He especially thinks he’s making all the athletes who are trying to make a difference look bad:

“Kyrie Irving could be a comedian if it weren’t for his influence on young people who look up to athletes. When I look at some of the athletes who have used their status to actually improve society – Colin Kaepernick, LeBron James, Muhammad Ali, Bill Russell, Billie Jean King, Arthur Ashe and others – it becomes clear how much Irving has tarnished the reputation of all athletes who strive to be seen as more than just stupid athletes.”
